Powerful rare earth magnets
Glue to miniatures where you want to quickly and easily swap weapon loadouts, or remove items
Contains 80x 5mm x 1mm rare earth magnets

Rare earth magnets are a great way to mount your turrets, making it quick and easy to pop them off (when destroyed) or rotate them to face an enemy, and when the game is done re-attaching them is fast and simple!

Chris’ Guide to Rare Earth Magnets!

(otherwise known as: Things Most of You Know… and I Just Found Out!)

Rare Earth Magnets are incredibly strong for their size and are made from alloys of rare earth elements. They retain their magnetic field for a very long time, which makes them perfect for many applications, especially when it comes to looking after the figures you have spent so long painting.

Those of you who are smarter than a 5th grader will be able to skip this bit. For the rest of us who cannot remember High School Science, this is the most important part! Magnets have something called ‘poles’. The key here is that like poles repel and opposite poles attract. Let’s call the poles ‘north’ and ‘south’.

For more information check out Wikipedia.

What this means is that when you are super gluing the magnets to your tanks and turrets it is important to always glue them so that one pole is always facing down.  Otherwise (as I almost found out when I was making up some AA halftracks) your turrets will not actually want to sit on the tank. If you are consistant with gluing your magnets in with all the same polarity, you will be able to easily interchange all of your turrets and hulls.

Assembly - where the superglue meets the magnet!

All of our plastic kits come with magnet wells that are designed to fit 5mm magnets. To avoid making mistakes I normally do a batch of models in one go, with a stack of magnets at the ready. I even have a magnet that I accidently super glued to my painting station that works as a great reminder as to what way is "up" (or "north") for my tanks - every tank I own (with a couple of possible exceptions) has the magnets glued the same way. If you are worried about getting your poles confused you can always line up a series of magnets and mark the "up" side with a permanent marker.

Once you have your magnets ready you need to put a drop of super glue in the magnet well of the turret and then carefully place the magnet in. A pair of non-magnetic tweasers can help you to seat the magnet nicely. Make sure to push the magnet in firmly and when wipe away any excess super glue. This is important as the glue can dry and affect how your turret sits on the hull.

Leave the glue to dry completely and then double check that you have glued them in the right way by using your magnet stack. Best to find out now if you have one round the wrong way so you can glue the magnet on one of your hulls (or turrets) to match, leaving you with a single "odd" tank.

Then rince and repeat by doing the hulls using the same method.
